License Plate Number 1 Sells for $14 million

In case you missed my previous article about the License Plate 1 auction , here is the follow-up. Abu Dabi sold the license plate for $14 million at a charity auction Saturday. The winning bidder was Saeed Khouri, a member of a wealthy family in Abu Dhabi.

Silver and Leather Dog Collar Sells for $3900

The auction house Bonhams, auctioned off $700,000 worth of dog related items including a silver and leather dog collar, which went for $3900, and a painting of foxhounds and a terrier which was hammered for $66,000.

301 Pennys sells for $10.7 million

At the Heritage Auction Galleries auction in Long Beach last week, a collection of 301 cents sold for $10.7 million. Just two of the cents, one from 1793, and one from 1794, sold for $632,500 .

$1 million Violin Accidentally Smashed

When David Garrettwas exiting a performance at London's Barbican Hall on a flight of concrete steps, he accidentally tripped and dropped his $1 million 1772 Guadagnini violin . It is still unknown whether the violin can be repaired.

$164 Million in Paintings Stolen in Switzerland

$164 million in old masters paintings were stolen at gunpoint at a museum in Zurich, Switzerland. The stolen paintings included those by Cezanne, Degas, Monet, and van Gogh. This was the largest art robbery in Swiss history.

At a Long Island auction, an 1869 stamp with the Declaration of Independence printed upside down sold for $1.2 million . The stamp was auctioned off by Philip Weiss Auctions.

Keira Knightley's Dress Currently Selling for $2,500

If you want a great movie star collectible, how about bidding on Keira Knightley's dress that she wore in the movie Atonement . The dress is being auctions by ClothesOffOurBacks.org , with the proceeds going to Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California.
