A man has just put up for auction a 5.5-inch high gold mug that was given to him as a child. At the time, he thought it was another toy. It turned out to be an ancient Persian goblet which was pounded out of a single sheet of gold back around 350 BC. Duke's Auction House said that it expects to sell for around $988,000.

130-million-year-old fossilized dinosaur dung, otherwise known as coprolite, was hammered at $960, more than twice the estimate, at the Bonham's auction house in New York. However, a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite which was expected to fetch around $2.5 million didn't meet its minimum reserve.

The Brazilian supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, is the top earning supermodel for last year, according to Forbes, followed by Heidi Klum, Kate Moss, Adriana Lima and Doutzen Kroes. Gisele reportedly earned $35 million in 2007 primarily from product endorsements.
