Billionaire Plans to Start Mining the Moon for Gold

Billionaire Naveen Jain has set up a company called Moon Express to start a mining operation on the moon . His company, based in Mountain View, California, is in partnership with NASA. Moon Express plans to send its first robotic spacecraft to the moon next year. The company plans to mine for various minerals including gold, cobalt, iron, palladium, and platinum. The company is the first private business to test a prototype of its lander, which caused it to win Google's $1 million milestone prize. If the company finds a lot of gold on the moon that it can bring back, will it cause the price of gold to drop?

Jamal Lewis's Super Bowl Ring Auctioned for Over $50,000

Jamal Lewis received a Super Bowl ring from Baltimore Ravens team owner Steve Bisciotti a couple years ago. However, Lewis declared bankruptcy and sold the ring to a pawn shop. The ring was recently auctioned by Goldin Auctions , and after spirited bidding, was hammered at $50,820. The ring had 3.75 carats of diamonds and was made with 10 karat gold. The successful bidder was a Maryland ring collector.

Lost Fabergé Imperial Easter Egg Almost Melted for Scrap

An American gold scrap dealer saved a FabergĂ© Imperial Easter Egg from being melted down into gold scrap. As it turns out, this FabergĂ© Egg hasn't been seen for over 100 years.  The Egg, made with gold, diamonds, and sapphires was made in 1887 by Peter Carl FabergĂ©. It is now on display at Wartski, a London antiques dealer.

The United States Government confiscated 20 Saint-Gaudens double-eagle gold coins that were found by a woman in her deceased father's safe deposit box, saying that the coins never should have been released from the US Mint. The woman had sent them to the US Treasury Department for authentication, and the government said that the coins were stolen from the government. The case went to court and the government decided in the government's favor.

The largest surviving California gold rush nugget was sold at a Holabird-Kagin Americana auction for $460,000 including buyers premium. It weighed in at 100 troy ounces. It was purchased by Spectrum Numismatics International of Irvine, California on behalf of an anonymous client. The nugget discovered last year in Nevada County, California.
